When temperatures get warmer, it’s time to head out and has some fun. The kids are home from school, and you need to find a way to entertain the entire family. Every summer, the city of Puyallup offers a wide range of activities to keep residents occupied. If you find yourself in the area, be sure to add one of these popular annual events to your calendar.

Daffodil Festival

There’s nothing like the aroma of blooming daffodils. Ever since the first Daffodil Festival back in 1926, this garden party has become one of the most anticipated events of the summer. The blooming daffodils mark the start of the warmer months. It’s an annual tradition in Puyallup and one that thousands of people travel to experience each year.

To help celebrate the agriculture industry, the festival features a large parade. Many contestants compete for the Queen’s Coronation. There is even a princess crowning for the younger attendees.

Meeker Days

On the third weekend in June, Puyallup residents are invited to attend the Meeker Days celebration. This annual tradition began in 1939 in Pioneer Park. What started as a small arts and crafts show has grown into a large, three-day event.

This family-friendly festival features more than 200 vendors, plenty of food, and live music. Of course, you can also participate in many of the kid crafts or educational exhibits. The entire festival takes up over 15 blocks in the downtown area, making it the largest in Pierce County.

Washington State Toy and Geek Fest - Summer Con

Technology whizzes are encouraged to attend the annual Washington State Toy and Geek Fest. First created in 2017, this festival of video games and cosplay has become a hit with the locals. Held at the Washington State Fair and Events Center in Puyallup, this weekend-long event welcomes people who share a common interest in toys, movies, comic books, and games.

The festival includes celebrity appearances and comic book artists. There is even a video game tournament. Children can participate in many activities. Cosplay is always encouraged! Next June, be sure to buy your tickets to mingle with your favorite comic book characters.

Are you a dog lover? If so, then you need to visit Puyallup in June for the annual dog show. Thousands of four-legged animals compete for top honors at this tail-wagging event. In addition to the competition, you can also mingle with dogs of all sizes. It’s a great place to learn about the different types of dog breeds. The event is sponsored by Puyallup Valley Dog Fanciers, the Tacoma Kennel Club, and the Gig Harbor Kennel Club. Admission is always free, and children are welcome.

Washington State Fair

When summer comes to an end, there’s no better place to be than the Washington State Fair. Formerly known as the Puyallup State Fair, this popular event is one of the biggest fairs in the entire world. The festival is jam-packed with fun activities, including rodeos, petting zoos, food, rides, and contests. It begins on Labor Day weekend and runs until late September.  Window and Gutter cleaning home.
